Meghan Markle’s Royal Australian Tour Beachwear vs. Kate Middleton’s 2014

On the third day of their royal tour, the The Duke and Duchess visited the beach in Melbourne, Australia. Meghan wore a Club Monaco A-line dress with gold buttons under a Martin Grant trench coat, which she rocked earlier in the week. It sounds completely normal, but when you mix sand and water, it’s actually a very formal (and frankly surprising) outfit choice for the Duchess.

Although she kept the dress and coat from the start of the day, Meghan made change into a pair of Rothy’s apartments (you can buy them here). Even though closed-toe shoes seemed like a practical choice, they were still completely covered in sand inside and out (that’s the idea that matters!), Making you wonder if beachwear Kate Middleton’s royal is the way to go.

When the Duchess of Cambridge visited Australia and New Zealand with Prince William on their first royal tour with Prince George in 2014, she wore a white Zimmerman dress and gold wedge shoes. The initial thought: altitude does not equal sand. But his feet too appear to be buried. See for yourself below:

Moral of the story: you’ll always have sand in your shoes, so you might as well go barefoot.
