METT is described as an “exclusive collection of refined and elegant boutique hotels located in some of the most unique locations in the world, with socializing and lifestyle entertainment” at the heart of the guest experience.

Well, following our stay at METT Hotel & Beach Resort Bodrum, it’s fair to say that this property really lives up to the positioning of the brand! This trendy and beautifully located property on a cove, close to the Aegean town of Bodrum, offers stylish, contemporary and bright rooms with a compelling Mediterranean design, relaxed and punctual service, delivered in style by a young and motivated team, as well as than our remarkable dining experiences with live entertainment.

Bodrum has experienced a renaissance. It has regained its status as a sought-after destination and has attracted some of the best hotel brands in the world. No wonder considering the incredible climate, which means summer weather extends into autumn, the beauty of the coastline and the wonders of the legendary Aegean Sea. I have been traveling to this part of the world for many years, almost like a pilgrim, as I love joining ScicSailing cruises. This time we had an exclusive charter of a gulet with friends, and at the end of the trip I knew I wanted to stay in Bodrum and experience what METT is.

Bodrum, despite its exponential growth as a yachting and vacation destination over the past decades, has retained much of its authentic identity. There is no high-rise development, so the outlines of the pine-clad hills that surround the bays remain. METT is located on one of these idyllic bays, with views of the Greek Islands. From Isola, the resort’s chic Italian restaurant, the view stretches across Bodrum Harbor to the castle. It really doesn’t get any better than that!

The resort is built on a hill that slopes down to a private beach, so from every level of the hotel you get stunning views.

The journey begins upon arrival. The double-height reception is flooded with light from a picture window that frames sea views — it’s the kind of high-impact arrival that makes memories. The team is young, impeccably presented, but confident in their laid-back, youthful style. A welcome cocktail makes checking in, sitting on a sofa by the bay window, a delight.

Rooms & Suites

We are then shown to our room, a Deluxe with partial sea view. The resort is busy and the choices are limited, but even this room category really impresses! A clever use of space, with an open plan feeling, makes the room very spacious. The style of decoration, with cotton, linen and natural materials, gives a contemporary Mediterranean touch.

Other room categories include studios, family rooms, loft suites — and even villas, from 1-bedroom to 5-bedroom, with pools and exceptional views.

The reception is seriously raised with a beautiful equipment. It’s not a generic wine bottle, but a beautifully crafted treat tray. In-room guest amenities are generous with a bag for toiletries and lovely toiletries from Korres, a favorite of mine.

To eat

Dining experiences at METT are definitely where the resort shows its unique identity. Away from the tranquility of the MOI Spa and the rejuvenation of the Turkish Hammam, guests can find tantalizing food and captivating entertainment in a unique ambience at Folie and Isola.

We enjoyed lunch at Folie, and what a lunch! This exclusive beach club is the quintessential Mediterranean restaurant. Situated on a platform above the water, with summer sunlight filtering through the wooden pergola. The location is stunning and even if you are not a hotel guest, this is where you can spend a day enjoying cocktails, a long lunch and lively entertainment. Be warned that the volume ramps up quickly and the restaurant and beach club turn into an open stage for singers, musicians, and cabaret acts.

There is also a tender service if you arrive with your own charter yacht. The tunes and entertainment last well into the evening – this is the resort’s social and entertainment hub.

Situated slightly next to the main property, the Isola overlooks Bodrum Harbor and the medieval castle. This is where we had dinner. The open-air terrace is the place to be — starting with cocktails at the long bar, with DJ sets creating a cool vibe. The cuisine is Italian and the setting is gloriously Mediterranean with illuminated olive trees, a gentle breeze and magnificent sea views.

Other dining options also include the schoonera chic restaurant with a sea-view terrace for al fresco dining, and Angela pop-up summer restaurant brings the authentic flavors and aromas of Turkish cuisine

final thought

METT certainly won me over. I loved the youthful vibe, the celebration of the Mediterranean lifestyle, and the balance between attentive service and a natural, relaxed approach. Look at this space – a new METT is opening in Marbella! It is clear that this hotel group will get better and better.
