As the only doubly landlocked county in Ireland, a local couple have decided to bring a brand new luxury resort to County Laois.
County Leinster might not be the first place you think of when it comes to a sunny beach holiday. However, things are about to change as a couple decided it was time for County Laois’ tourist appeal to be recognised.
So if you’re planning your next Irish holiday, check out this brand new luxury beach resort coming to County Laois.
pond resort – an unconventional beach holiday
Yes, we know what you’re thinking. County Laois has no coastline. Well, you’re right about that. Yet that hasn’t stopped a local couple, Iveta Melgaile and Patrick Bowe, from securing planning permission for a luxury resort in the county of Ireland.
Making the most of what they have, the couple developed the Pond Beach Resort. Unhindered by Laois’ lack of coastline, the resort will be centered around a pond at Clonmeen North in Errill.
The brand new luxury resort in County Laois will feature multiple glamping pods with pond views in the scenic Irish Midlands.

According to Nationalist Laois, the Pond Beach Resort will include three double units and two single units. There will also be a spa treatment center with a sauna, barbecue hut, sports activity area, fire pit, outdoor amenity area and parking.
The independent rooms with a view of the pond will also be accessible to wheelchairs. Two of the five units will accommodate up to six people. Meanwhile, the other two will only sleep two, perfect for a couples getaway.
Guests will even have access to their own private hot tub, front yard and BBQ area. Thus, making it the perfect place for a fun family getaway.
According to the couple, the resort will be “surrounded by exotic plants and palm trees as well as a white stone beach with double sun loungers and large day beds for couples.”
An idyllic Irish getaway – cleverly positioned to take advantage of the sun
County Laois and Ireland in general might not come to mind for those looking for a sunny seaside getaway. However, Iveta and Patrick have ensured that the newest luxury resort arriving in County Laois has the best conditions Ireland has to offer.
They said the resort “has been positioned so that the sun catches the beach all day from sunrise to sunset and blooms with water lilies.”
The planning app outlines some of the amenities offered at Pond Beach Resort. They emphasized Irish culture. The app highlights a large pit that will host local musicians and storytellers to entertain guests.
There will also be basketball, life-size chess pieces, volleyball and mini-golf for hours of family fun. The couple also plans to create a “Celtic wooden house, with an old-fashioned fireplace for winter evenings with storytellers and Irish music”.
